Reading summary/Intro to gestalt

Gestalt - Means entire firgure or configuration.

Four aspects of gestalt.
- Closure
      - This aspect of  gestalt refers to seeing a design as a whole rather than seperate parts.
- Continuance
      - When one form lead to another in a design making it easy for the eye to follow.
- Proximity
      -  The distance between objects in a form.
- Similarity
      - Similarity of objects in size and appearence.

Interactions of form
Position shows the placement of an object next to other objects and the frame. Direction shows movement in any given direction while space shows the area around the element which can be as dominant as the element.

Elements of compositional interaction
Depth creates contrast to show a purpose. In 3d designs depth can be physically seen but in 2D depth must be ceated as a illusion. Perspective is shown by using lines to create a three dimensional for, on a flat 2D surface.

Symmetry- When an object is divided into two parts both sides are equal.
Asymetry- When an obaject is divided into two parts both sides are not equal.

The rest of this weeks notes will be in another blog before Sept 3.
